4. Developing Our Spiritual Lives

 Introduction

"Any leader in the Kingdom of God will only be as effective as the quality of his relationship with God." (Bob Gordon)

"Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." (Proverbs 4:23)

In order to be effective leaders we need to live continually in close relationship with God. This means that we need to invest regularly into our spiritual lives. As we do so, we will reap benefits in many other areas of our lives. Our character and thinking will be transformed, we will be more open to hear God's voice and more sensitive to His leading (Romans 12:1-2). This will lead to an increasingly positive influence in the lives of those that we lead.

Daily investment into our spiritual lives is an essential area for our personal growth and development. This also means that it is a key area that Satan will seek to sabotage. For many of us, our spiritual lives are characterised by symptoms of neglect and under-nourishment. This study examines how we can develop a balanced and effective spiritual life.
