3. Becoming An Effective Leader

Introduction

Everyone needs a hero, someone they can look up to as a model and an example for his or her life. When it comes to leadership, there are many models that we can follow. Many leaders, both Christian and non-Christian, have had a powerful influence in motivating and equipping others towards a goal. Sometimes the methods and motives for achieving those goals have been tainted with manipulation and dubious morals, whereas we must ensure that our leadership is founded on Biblical principles.

Christian leaders have a supreme model in the life of Jesus. He was someone who built his life on the firm foundation of doing the Father's will. Jesus became all that the Father wanted him to be; did what the Father wanted him to do; and achieved all this by having a complete commitment to the Father's methods.

We have a great example to follow. However, an investigation into the principles that drive our lives may show how far we lag behind that example. This study examines what it is to be an effective leader, how we can become the effective leaders that Jesus desires us to be.
