2. Examining the Foundations

Introduction

"A Biblical leader a person with a God-given capacity and a God-given responsibility to influence a specific group of God's people towards His purposes for the group." (Dr J. Robert Clinton)

Motivations are vital foundations in the life of any leader. They lie at the heart of the visions, desires and decision-making of the leader. If a leader is to influence a group of people, he or she needs to have a clear idea of what they wish to achieve, and where they wish to go. What principles should guide the forming of the vision for a Christian leader? What should motivate and drive us as Christian leaders? What is it that drives our lives in practice? When we examine the foundations of our motivation and decision-making, we may find that our lives are built on unstable ground. This study looks at the life of Jesus and highlights the foundations of his motivation.
